Privacy Policy

Cairn is built privacy-first: your environment data stays on your own device, and the app collects no telemetry. This policy explains the limited data we and our service providers process when you use Cairn and the website at cairnapp.dev.
Cairn is provided by Victor Kozak, an individual based in Ukraine ("we", "us", or "our"), who is the controller of the personal data described below.
1. Your data stays on your device
Cairn stores your projects as plain JSON files on your own computer. We do not host, sync, or have access to your environment data. Cairn never stores secret values — it stores only references into the secret manager you already use (such as 1Password or Windows Credential Manager), which are resolved locally when you launch a resource. The app contains no analytics or usage telemetry, and day-to-day use works fully offline.
2. Licensing data
To run a free trial or validate a paid license, the app performs occasional online checks with our licensing provider. These checks send a machine fingerprint (a hashed identifier derived from your device) and, for paid licenses, a license identifier. They are required only to start a trial and to issue or re-validate a license, and they carry no usage or analytics data about how you use the app. Trial issuance is routed through a service hosted on Cloudflare, which may process your IP address and request metadata for delivery and abuse prevention.
3. Website data
The Site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like most websites, our host processes standard technical information — such as your IP address and request metadata — in server and security logs. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only third-party scripts the Site loads are Paddle's checkout script and its Retain (ProfitWell) analytics component, which Paddle operates as part of payment processing under Paddle's privacy policy.
4. Purchases
When you buy a license, the transaction is processed by Paddle.com acting as our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes your payment and billing details (for example, your name, email, country, and payment information) under Paddle's privacy policy. We receive only limited order information from Paddle — such as your email address, country, and order identifier — which we use to deliver your license key and provide support.
5. Support and feedback
If you contact us through our support portal or post on our public feedback board, the respective provider processes the information you choose to submit (such as your email address and the contents of your message or post).
6. Service providers (sub-processors)
We rely on the following providers to operate Cairn. Each processes data only as needed for its function, under its own privacy policy.

7. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where they do, they are responsible for applying appropriate safeguards as described in their respective privacy policies.
8. Data retention
We retain licensing and order records for as long as needed to support your license, comply with legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. Support and feedback content is retained according to the policies of the respective providers.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. For payment and billing data held by Paddle, you can also contact Paddle directly.
10. Children
Cairn is a professional developer tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
